HIPEC Surgery

The power of HIPEC lies in its targeted approach. By delivering chemotherapy directly into the abdomen, we achieve a much higher concentration of the drug at the site of the disease than is possible with traditional intravenous chemotherapy, while simultaneously limiting the exposure of the rest of the body to the toxic side effects. The heat further enhances the effect of the chemotherapy by increasing the permeability of cancer cells, making them more susceptible to the treatment.

HIPEC is primarily indicated for patients with peritoneal surface malignancies. Because it is a demanding procedure, candidate selection is paramount. We conduct a comprehensive evaluation to ensure that the tumor load is manageable for complete resection and that the patient is physically capable of undergoing a prolonged, major surgery. This multidisciplinary assessment—involving surgeons, oncologists, and anesthesiologists—is the key to ensuring the safety and success of the procedure.

For eligible patients, the combination of CRS and HIPEC offers the best hope for long-term control of abdominal cancers that have historically been difficult to treat. While recovery from such an intensive procedure takes time, our post-operative care protocols focus on aggressive pain management, early nutritional support, and a structured rehabilitation plan to help patients regain their strength and quality of life as effectively as possible.
